- GreenYellow installed Brazil's largest solar plant in the retail sector
More than 1 000 solar panels installed
In order to produce and use energy in an even more sustainable way, the supermarket chain Assaí, has just inaugurated the largest solar plant in Brazil in the retail sector. In total, 1,140 photovoltaic panels were installed on the roof of the supermarket parking lot, occupying an area of 1,940 square meters. In full operation, the solar plant will produce up to 17% of the energy consumption of the store.
GreenYellow e Assai: an alliance for energy savings
Over the years, the plant will avoid the emission of more than 1,300 tons of CO2 in the atmosphere. In addition to that, there is also financial gain. With the investment, the store will stop consuming, in part, energy from a concessionaire, subject to tariff volatility.
This solar plant is a pilot project, carried out in partnership between Assaí and GreenYellow. The Várzea Grande / MT region was chosen because of the solar potential of the region, associated to the geographic location of the site, the inclination of the roof and the type of roof tiles, which created the proper installation conditions. There are already plans to expand the action for other stores in the chain. The initiative integrates an energy efficiency program with Assaí, whose objective is to optimize the consumption of natural resources through investments in technology and improvement in management and operational processes.
